Old Gaddafi Bastion is in our hearts ! Try to catch us!
The 'last pro-Gaddafi stronghold' is in our hearts ! Try to catch us!

= LAST REPORT : Bani Walid 19.30 GMT - 24 Oct
= Life and death in Bani Walid, LIbya - resident of BANI WALID
Amid worrying news reports from Bani Walid in Libya, our colleague Mona Mahmood has been talking to Abd al-Nasser Alim, a resident in the city.

What is happening in Bani Walid is beyond the imagination. It is a tragedy. The so-called Libyan army, which are in reality a bunch of thugs, are behaving like locusts. They are attacking everything in their way.
This Misrata army are stationed at the entrances of Beni Walid and using all sorts of weapons, tanks, rockets and gases against the people.

They keep shooting the city for 10 hours at random and then have a few troops on the ground and some others in small vans trying to infiltrate, but the men of Beni Walid who are hiding in houses open fire and push them back.

Till now these thugs could not get inside the town owing to the fierce resistance by the people of Bani Walid. Before, we had Gaddafi's army. Now we have armed militias killing women and children. They have been surrounding the city for 20 days but within the last five days they got crazy and have made our lives here a real hell.

There is no safe place to hide in Bani Walid. I was in opposition to Gaddafi and was imprisoned in Abu Salim prison for a long time, but I regret every moment I opposed Gaddafi after what I have seen here.[With a little Western propaganda makeup - of course]

These armed militias are so barbarian, they are committing crimes against humanity and no one is recognising that. There is a complete blackout on what is going on here. All the shelling against the city is random, bodies are in the streets for both sides and others are still under rubble – no one can help as they will be shelled too.

There is only one hospital in the whole of Bani Walid, where more than 100,000 people live. It is already in an appalling situation and lacks most of the basic medical stuff. Water and power are cut but people have stored food at home.

Some of the families started to flee to escape the shelling. More than 50,000 people left  but the route outside the city is a rocky and desert one and really hard to go through with children. Other families decided to stay for fear of robbery. People are worried to leave their houses and come back to find everything is stolen.

I left during the liberation war but when I came back I found my car was stolen. This time I am staying and will die in my home. We call upon the humanitarian society to come and help us as the city is entirely sealed off and even fleeing is not safe.

This is an act of revenge and racism. People have decided to defend their homes and honour with the arms they have and I can assure you if the situation continues like that, Libya will slip to a civil war eventually.

They are destroying an entire city but people will not keep silent, there are more than 53 tribes in Bani Walid and they have decided to die for their land. [Guardian

BANI WALID: Besieged Bani Walid: Who's in control?
We can see  and hear  the creeps who want to lead Libya

Herman spoke  about the ongoing violence and conflicting reports surrounding Bani Walid.
RT:You've spoken to doctors in Bani Walid and gotten their accounts of chemical weapons. The National Transitional Council – on this channel tonight – categorically insisted that they are not being used, and there is still no properly-verified evidence. What do you think's really happening?
Morris Herman: Doctors certainly gave accounts of symptoms that reflect lung and breathing problems that you’d find with gas inhalation.
I don’t know if the NTC really represents the Misrata militias that are actually doing the fighting, so the situation is a bit more anarchic. I don’t know that there’s anyone who would really own up to such a thing.
Zintan brigades in the past – this year – have been accused of using gas, so it’s not the first time.

The UN has taken no action to curb the ongoing violence. Russia attempted to propose a draft statement calling for a peaceful end to the violence in Bani Walid, but was blocked by the US.

For 20 days now, while most of the world has looked on in dumb silence, the city of Bani Walid, in Libya, has been under indiscriminate shelling from Misrata militias, nominally loyal to the NATO imposed National Transitional Council (NTC.) These are the very same Misrata militias who dubbed themselves "The Brigades for the Elimination of Black Skins," as they ethnically cleansed 40,000 Black inhabitants from the city of Tawarga - again with the silent complicity of most of the Western media and political parties, including, shamefully, the parties of the Left.

Libya, Bani Walid report [22.10.2012.]
LIBYA: Race, Empire, and the Invention of Humanitarian Emergency

= Libya and the Human Rights Double Standard
And yet, despite AI’s truthful reporting on the post-regime-change situation inLibya of thousands of unlawful detentions, of torture, extra-judicial killings, forced displacement and now the ongoing laying of siege to and shelling of a city,  where are the cries for human rights intervention, military or otherwise, to stop this?
Outside of Libya itself, one strains to hear any such voices.  And of course, this is because the NATO attack on Libya was never about human rights to begin with.

Indeed, the nightmarish human rights situation confronting Libya notwithstanding, NATO’s mission in Libya has been accomplished in full.  A nationalist government which controlled Libya’s oil, to a large extent for the benefit of the Libyan people, has been toppled.
That chaos now reigns, along with crimes against the population, is of no consequence to the West so long as it continues to have unfettered control of Libya’s oil – the grand prize all along.

=Black Libyans Bear Brunt Of Post-Gaddafi Chaos
Cries of anguish over Syria are contrasted with the deafening silence from the West and Arab world over the chaos in Libya.
There is indiscriminate shelling of civilian areas. The hospital has been hit by rocket fire. Militia open fire on families fleeing for safety.

Perhaps the West should intervene?
The problem is, the shelling is in Bani Walid, Bani Walid is in Libya, and the West has been there and done that.

Approximately  5,000 families have already fled Bani Walid, many of whom have relocated to Tarhouna, roughly 89km north

Relief workers from the International Committee of the Red Cross estimated yesterday that as many as 5,000 families, or some 25,000 people, had fled Bani Walid into the Urban area alone, with the total figure believed to be much higher.
The ICRC have said that Urban and Temesla Wadi Mansour are the main transit points for civilians fleeing their homes, and that ICRC staff together with Libyan Red Crescent volunteers are distributing plastic sheeting, mattresses, blankets, kitchen sets and hygiene items to the many displaced in Urban. Yesterday, the ICRC set up a temporary base in Tarhuna to help facilitate its humanitarian operations.

Libyan Refugees Flee Siege of Bani Walid
Refugees interviewed by The Daily Beast say dozens are dead. A woman refugee says she saw 10 dead children yesterday alone. A fighter said he had seen 29 dead over the weekend. Others say hundreds of homes have been destroyed in the shelling and rocket attacks.

The shelling is indiscriminate,” says 60-year-old Musbakr al-Shibani. “We were being shelled from all around. My home was destroyed and so that is why I and my family fled.” A teacher of Arabic at a high school in Bani Walid, he says he saw a small child decapitated by shrapnel. “The fight is just gaining in ferocity. This is worse than it was during the civil war.”

“People here – if they find even the smallest opportunity – they will make problems for this revolution”, says Khaled Ali, a young student at Sirte university and supporter of Qaddafi. “In their hearts there is blood. In every house you will find someone who died.”

Walking around the shattered ruins of the town, it is hard to believe that Ali is far wrong. The destruction is everywhere, to homes, to shops and to schools.

“NATO has done this”, says Marwa Ziyan, sitting smoking a cigarette next to the bombed-out remainders of his uncle’s home. “They hit this house, but the family has nowhere to go. Fifty-eight people were killed by NATO in this area”.
Inside Ali’s house, solidarity with Bani Walid is not hard to find.
In the past week alone, four Misratans are said to have been killed, with the body of one discovered just yesterday. “How can these Misratans be doing this to Bani Walid?” asks Ali. “They are not even human.” [ Libya Herald ]

This pattern has been consistent over the last two decades. In Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia, Yemen and Syria, the situations have worsened with the involvement of Washington.

The only solution to the crisis in Libya and all other countries occupied by the imperialists is the overthrow of western foreign rule and the establishment of governments that represent the interests of the majority of people within these societies. Anti-war activists in the imperialist countries must support and defend the right of oppressed peoples to self-determination and sovereignty.

And since when are UN concerned about Libyan sovereignty?
That didn't seam to be the obstacle for them to follow lead when America had regime change in plans for Libya.

`Banker` Moon `Alarmed` at Bani Walid Fighting
Banker Moon said that "the international community is closely monitoring the situation." By "international community" is meant the code word for "banker elite", rather than the world community which is under its domination. Yet, the news media networks of the "international community" have remained almost completely silent on the aggression against Bani Walid.

Banker Moon also made it plain that the bankers want the ratverment to extend its authority over all Libya and the elimination of all vestiges of the Jamahiriya: He said the Libyan ratverment "authorities must be able to extend Libyan (bankers') sovereignty and state control and services throughout the territory of Libya".
Instead of condemning the ratverment and placing sanctions upon it, and instead of ordering a no-fly zone and invoking "responsibility to protect' and launching a 7 minute war against the banker stooges in the Tripoli-based ratverment, he privately has given the nod for the actions against Bani Walid while publicly attempting to save the irrevocably tainted and exposed UN image.

US government documents: Libya an escalating humanitarian disaster
US government documents show Obama and NATO’s intervention in Libya has led to an escalating humanitarian disaster as the Libyan people’s human rights, especially the right to life and security are taken away and the country faces the prospect of failed state status.
Documents of the United States Department of State, released by the House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, show the security situation in Libya going rapidly downhill from June 2011 to July 2012. It appears that the Obama administration decided to bury its head in the sand regarding the increasing levels of violence in the country pursuing a policy of “normalization”. Meanwhile, American diplomats on the ground were increasingly desperate for enhanced security, whilst dismayed at the situation spiralling out of control around them.

“Actually we found gas masks and the hospital’s reports very clearly say that civilians in Bani Walid have been bombed with gas."
“Moreover, when we took over the positions the militias of Misrata had been taking before being kicked out, the people of Bani Walid found there gas masks. There are photos and videos of this. It’s the proof against those militias that they are using gas against civilians. Why would you be using a gas mask if you go inside Bani Walid using only machine guns and normal rockets?"
“What Bani Walid is doing is self defense. When Bani Walid first fell during the days of the fight for Gaddafi, [militias] took away everything there was in the city: cars, money, gold… Then the people of the town said “It’s a fight for freedom, we have to go out”, so they went out and their houses were robbed and destroyed, no one cared."
“Right now the civilians in Bani Walid who are holding guns and fighting, they are fighting for their land which should not be taken from them. They just cannot go away.”

Mysteries of Muammar Gaddafi's death [there is no mistery! ]
By this date, Human Rights Watch (HRW), an international human rights organization, released new evidence showing that Gaddafi, contrary to the official version, had not been accidentally wounded in a shootout. The newly released data shows that he was tortured by rebels. Afterwards, they killed his son Mutassimom and 66 Gadaffi supporters.
All the prisoners were subjected to severe tortures before death. The human rights organization published a 50-page report, "Death of a Dictator: Bloody Vengeance in Sirte." The report emphasizes that the Libyan authorities have not kept their promise to investigate the death of Colonel Gaddafi and punish all those responsible for the massacre. HRW accused the Libyan government of harboring war criminals.

He claimed grad rockets and gas weapons are being used against people in Bani Walid. RT also received a fax message from the local hospital on October 8, saying that 26 injured civilians they treated at the moment were showing signs of inhalation of toxic gases.

Because of Gadaffi 's financial contribution to the kingdom, in 1996, King Oyo honoured him with the Omujwarakondo (defender of the kingdom), which is the highest honour in the kingdom. Since the founding of Toro Kingdom in 1830, nobody had been given the honour.

Kingdom officials, however, say if Gadaffi was alive, he would have supported several projects in the kingdom.

Some of the projects that have stalled due to lack of funds are the King Oyo Hospital, which was supposed to be constructed in Kyejonjo district.

Months after Gadaffi 's death, a plaque to remember his support towards the renovation of the Toro Kingdom Palace, was removed under unclear circumstances. The plaque has been there since 2001.

Namara says the kingdom will not hold any special function in memory of Gadaffi . I suppose they  want to ask for help LIBYAN "NEW GOVERNMENT" or AFRICOM who don't like "special finction in memory of Gaddafi"?
